Science & Technology : A small number of Apple iPods shipped with viruses

Science & Technology

Viruses on iPods, huh? I guess some folks at Apple use Windows... I guess, just like in the old days of floppy disks (remember those?), one has to format their iPod before using it. Just in case.

News : Canadian troops foiled by 10-foot tall Pot forest

News

Canadian troops fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan were foiled by an unusual enemy: overgrown Marijuana plants standing 10-feet tall. Apparenly the Taliban are using these forests of Pot as cover, as well as for camouflaging their cars. Needless to say, trying to burn down the plants didn't work as well as the troops would have hoped.

Humour & Satire : A hands-on guide to eliminating "BS" from venues representing one's public image

Humour & Satire

This is in response to a series of posts on the SCSU forums, a prominent example of which which can be found here. In case this particular post is deleted and/or just in case you get a bit lazy, I am quoting it here for reference purposes:

The "private" section of the SDSA is an exclusive club. You can't have that that on the SCSU forum simply because it's a service that's provided to all students. The reason I care about what goes on this form (the reason I'm pro removing stupid BS) is because the image of UTSC is at stake. I personally know employers who check out the SCSU website. That may not be important for some, but to me, being in co-op management, this makes a big difference. I want UTSC (not so much SCSU) to have the image of an upscale, high class university, where employers would be proud to hire from, not some slum wheer students can't even get along, and are too busy being immature and "pwn'ing" each other. If you want to talk crap, take it to the SDSA that will never be seen by anyone.

Of course the obvious suggestion to that is to close off all forums so that only registered members can see them, and make registrations exclusive to utoronto.ca email address holders. Even that has its own problems.

Now, I feel that I have to warn you, that the article you are about to read contains toxic levels of sarcasm. So if you can't handle sarcasm, combined with the truth of your situation in its purest form, please, do us both a favour, and skip this article. Instead, I suggest reading something like this.

Website Announcements : A one year [tech] anniversary!
Posted by Morpheus on 2006/9/15 23:01:00 (98 reads)

Today marks a very special day. The day that the SDSA moved from its old roots (an ad-supported forum) to its new and improved home and a whole whack of extra goodies (like blogs, flash games, chess, etc). There may be many contenders for this very special day, but I think that the day when the website was installed and set up should be this very special day. At least the "tech" anniversary, anyway.
